the ARTIST

Brian Alexander Reynolds was born in Bourbonnais, IL on May 4th, 1983.  He attended public schools and graduated from Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School in 2001.  From there he studied at Huntington College and graduated in May of 2005 with a B.S. in Art Education and minors in graphic design and fine arts.

Since then Brian has lived and worked in Europe.  Originally leaving the States to reside in south Czech Republic for a year working with the local church there as a missionary.  There was where he met his wife Alzbeta (Also known as Betka, Betuska, or Bety, basically the Czech form of Elizabeth) and they were married in June 9, 2007 and now have one son, Tobias who was born July 28, 2008.  They are expecting their next son in January 2011.  Brian has been teaching art to K-12 students from 2006-present as a missionary teacher in Vienna, Austria at the International Christian School of Vienna, ICSV.

Brian enjoys all types of art and does not have one specific media that he specializes in although drawing is his favorite mode of creating artwork.  Currently he enjoys experimenting with new media to see what he can introduce his students to.  At the moment he has the opportunity to work with clay, graphite, water soluble graphite, handicrafts, and mixed media.  The qualities of water soluble graphite allows Brian to draw then use watercolor painting techniques to enhance his artwork.  Working with water soluble graphite has led him into working with watercolor and Brian gets the most joy when using it in new an innovative ways.

Brian is not a “professional” artist as of yet, but will take commissions.  If you are interested in works he has done in the past or would like an an original piece of artwork made for you.  Just contact him for further information about commissions.

Brian’s personal philosophy of art is that it can be enjoyed by everyone.  You don’t need to be immensely talented to enjoy the creative nature that he believes the Lord has instilled in everyone.  It says in Genesis 1: “God created human beings;  He created them godlike, reflecting God’s nature.” Brian believes that our God, the one true God, created each one of us and God’s creativity in doing so is obvious.  So, in the words of the artist “Go on . . . CREATE, you were made to do so!”
